Yikes, I must really be pissing people off.

Check out this picture of the drivers side mirror on our pickup.
That, dear readers is a through and through bullet hole.
Before everybody freaks out about people shooting guns in the Gold Coast this
didn't happen on the island so relax.
But still, a bullet hole.........yikes

Dan, sorry to leave a comment on this post but I wasn't sure of a better way. I found your blog researching tankless water heaters. How have the Navien heaters been? Any concerns, complaints, or anything else you can comment on? More info is good! Thanks for your help.

I have no complaints on the Navien heaters. The 3 gal buffer tank really is awesome you can turn the water down to a trickle and its just fine. Have had no problems with temp instability also. They do seem to solve all the problems of regular tankless heaters for not a lot more. No I'm not being paid by them. I would use them again if I had to do it over.

Dan, thanks for the response! Last question: when you installed these did Alameda provide you with a tankless plumbing checklist (cause the website only has a checklist for a normal tank water heater)?

All I could find was that Alameda incorporated CA Plumbing Code (last update 2013) but nothing in Alameda's municiplac building code talks about tankless style water heaters. Some of our surrounding cities like San Jose, Santa Clara, Newark, etc. have sheets you can refer to.

As far as I can tell you follow manufacturers directions for venting, gas, etc.

Aany strange requirements here?

ty very much,

No, no strange requirements. Follow the manf rec and you should be fine. Things like TPS valves and running a drain line are the same. Gas hookups are the same. Its bolted to the wall so no need to strap the water heater down etc. Don't be afraid to install one I don't think Alameda is going to screw you.
